Tell us about Les PLanes

Now that we’ve given you information about Lycée Jules Mousseron, it would be great if you could describe your school. Here are a few questions:

How many pupils are there in your high school?

How many classes are there in your high school?

Are there relaxing spaces?

Are there spaces for the meals?

How large is your high school?

What kind of equipment is there in your high school?

What is the success rate in your high school?

How is your timetable organized? What are your hours?

What can you do after school in your high school? What kind of activities can you practise in your high school after class?

How is the high school’s administration composed? Is there a Head Teacher?

Take care.

Hi!
Here's a description of our school. We hope it will make you feel like visiting us!

There are 1,300 pupils in the high school, which is composed of two high schools: Mousseron and Jurénil (technical school). In fact, there are 750 pupils in Mousseron and 550 pupils in Jurénil.

The high school counts 50 forms: there are 6 secondes (the first year of the high school), 9 premières (the second one) and 6 terminales (the third one) in Jurénil and 6 secondes, 8 premières and 8 terminales in Mousseron.

Then we can continue studying in B.T.S., it’s like a two-year training course (there are 4 forms of B.T.S. in trade and in home economics) and a Home Economics Adviser form (3rd year after high school diploma).

In the High School there are many branches:

General Forms:

-Bac L (high school diploma in arts and literature)

-Bac S (high school diploma in sciences)

-Bac STG (high school diploma in management, marketing, or human resources)

-Bac ST2S (high school diploma in health and social sciences)

Technical forms:

- commerce and sale

- accountancy and secretary

Finally the pupils can begin different BTS after the high school diploma (The Bac) in high school.

There is also a nursing auxiliary school.

The high school is open from Monday to Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm and on Saturdays from 8:00am to 12:00am.

In our high school there are a video-room, computer-rooms (350 computers), a students’ room, work rooms, a library and a dining hall.

First, The Lycée Mousseron couldn't function without administrative team.

There are a headmasterwhose name is Mrs Risbourg and two assistant headmasters ( Mr Houriez & Mrs Dessin ). There is also a technical manager and three head supervisors helped by fifteen supervisors. There is a staff composed of one steward and six secretaries.

There are a lot of laboratory aids and one cook chef helped by ten people, and about ten cleaning ladies. This lycée also has three technical workers among which an electrician, a receptionist, and a gardener. There are in all 123 rather young teachers. The administrative team is composed of 180 people.

Projects and options

  • Projects

In our school, there are different projects: the agenda 21which is a regional project established for every school in the north of France. It funds ecological projects.

The “Sustainable Development” project stems from the eco-label of the school.

Then, “Comenius projects” exist. They are financed by the European Union. For example, a few months ago, Spanish pupils visited us for two weeks.

Many actions are led during solidarity days: in January, a day is dedicated to AIDS and a day is dedicated to blood gift. Finally, on 17th March, a forum about health and social work is organised to talk about and discover the jobs in these fields.

  • Options

We have a European Section in Spanish where the pupils have history classes in Spanish language.

Then, there are Italian or Spanish as third foreign languages. The pupils can also study Latin or Greek.

For the most sports-minded students there are sports options and maybe a basketball section in the next years.

Presently there's heavy work in progress in our school. In the picture below you can see Lycée Mousseron as it is today and how it will be in a few years.

We’d like to thank Mr Houriez, our assistant headmaster, who answered our questions.
